Albert Pujols To Sign With Dodgers
3 years agoFree-agent first baseman Albert Pujols is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a one-year deal. While the Dodgers have yet to confirm the transaction, multiple MLB sources have reported on the deal. Pujols was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Angels on May 6 and reportedly had three or four teams interested in procuring his services once he cleared waivers. He hit .198 with five homers, nine runs, 12 RBI, and a steal in 86 at-bats with the Angels before his release. The Dodgers can use his help with Corey Seager (hand) joining several other position players on the injured list after fracturing his hand on Saturday. Pujols figures to be in the mix for platoon at-bats against left-handed pitching and as a pinch-hitting option with the occasional start at first base behind regular first baseman Max Muncy. The future first-ballot Hall of Famer isn't a fantasy option these days but his landing with the Dodgers is a nice story.
