Jose Abreu Will Miss Upcoming Series With Ankle Injury
4 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (ankle) will miss the upcoming three-game series against the Minnesota Twins with left ankle inflammation. He suffered the injury after sliding into home for the winning run on Sunday. The slugger got X-rays and those came back negative with a MRI showing inflammation. Abreu's body has had a rough go of it lately. In addition to his ankle, Abreu suffered a facial contusion and laceration to the face and also a bruised knee after a collision with Hunter Dozier on Friday. The White Sox have Thursday off and are hopeful that Abreu will be able to return for a three-game set versus the Yankees starting on Friday. Andrew Vaughn should see the bulk of playing time at first base with Abreu out and is worth a look in mixed leagues.
