Anthony Rizzo Exits Early On Tuesday
4 years agoChicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo left Tuesday's game after the top of the fourth inning versus the Washington Nationals. Manager David Ross and the team trainers came out to the field with Rizzo seen stretching during warmup tosses in between innings. Rizzo would stay in the game, but the defensive star would botch a grounder by Kyle Schwarber to start the inning. It was his first error in 94 games. Rizzo finished the inning defensively, but went straight to the tunnel in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rizzo has dealt with back issues in the past and that was the one concern with drafting the upcoming free agent this year. Rizzo is one of the more consistent first baseman when he is healthy and more should be known about his status as the evening goes on. Rizzo finishes the game 0-for-2 and was replaced in the lineup by Jason Heyward. If Rizzo misses time, utility man Matt Duffy would be the biggest beneficiary. Duffy has been a solid option for those seeking hits in deeper leagues.
