4 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Tyler Ivey is being promoted and will make his major league debut when he starts for the Astros on Friday, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. The No. 9 prospect in Houston's system according to MLB Pipeline, Ivey has gotten off to a rough start this year with a 7.11 ERA in 6 1/3 innings of work, but throughout his career in the minors he has shown he can be a strikeout machine with a 29.7 percent strikeout rate. He should be in line for a nice matchup against a Texas Rangers team that has the eighth-highest strikeout rate in the majors at 26.2 percent.
