3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Spencer Howard has been pitching well in Triple-A and is a possibility to join the Phillies after Vince Velasquez was scratched from his start Thursday. Reliever David Hale made the spot-start and pitched three good innings, but the Phillies will likely need to add an arm if Velasquez can't make his next scheduled start. Enter Howard, who has been dominant for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The Phillies' top pitching prospect was recently named the Pennsylvania Pork "Prime Cut Player" and while I'm sure he would love to defend that honor with the IronPigs, a trip back to the Majors is probably preferred. Howard has an ERA of 1.00 on the season and has a .091 batting average against. He's not a must-add player in redraft leagues, but dynasty and keeper league managers should add Howard if he's available.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
