3 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and one strikeout in a 7-6 win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Blackmon broke up a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning when he took Madison Bumgarner deep for a two-run blast, his third of the season. It was his only hit of the day. Blackmon got off to an uncharacteristically slow start this season and was hitting as low as .148 back on April 26. He's stepped his game up in May, batting .323/.391/.452 over his last 62 at-bats. His recent play has elevated his season batting line to a respectable .246/.342/.370 with three home runs and 23 RBI over 138 at-bats. The power numbers are much lower than fantasy managers would like but he's got an expected batting average of .307 and has a career-high 13% walk rate. The home runs should continue to rise as well during the summer months.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
