J.D. Davis Misses Rehab Appearance On Sunday
4 years agoNew York Mets third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis (hand), currently on the 10-day injured list, missed Sunday's rehab appearance with the Mets Triple-A affiliate Syracuse due to a stiff neck. With an off-day tomorrow for the Syracuse Mets, and the Mets looking for Davis to get a couple of more games in before activating him, it is unlikely Davis will be back with the team before next Friday, May 28. Davis was originally expected to return to the team back on May 12. Unfortunately, his return from the hand injury is taking much longer than initially anticipated. Over just 41 at-bats in 2021, Davis has posted a .390/.479/.610 slash line with two home runs and seven RBI. During Davis' absence, Jonathan Villar has primarily served as the Mets' regular third baseman. Once he returns, and if he can finally stay healthy, Davis should provide fantasy managers in deeper and NL-only formats with solid counting power stats.
