4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher J.A. Happ put together a bounce-back performance in a no-decision on Sunday. Happ pitched six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits while walking one with a season-high 10 strikeouts. After allowing a combined 15 runs in his last two outings, it was nice to see Happ somewhat limit the damage on the scoreboard. The veteran southpaw had his best swing-and-miss stuff of the season, as he generated a season-high 18 whiffs, 15 of them on his fastball-slider combo. No one is anointing the 38-year-old southpaw as a must-start option the rest of the way, though he can certainly be a viable streamer in the right matchups. His next scheduled start will come on May 29 against the Kansas City Royals. Happ has won five of his nine career starts against Kansas City, with a 4.17 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.--Tim Capurso
