4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (hand) is expected to be ready to return next week, according to general manager Zack Scott. Alonso landed on the injured list last Friday due to a sprained right hand. The Mets have been crushed by injuries lately, so this is great news for them. James McCann is playing first base on Monday, so the team might use a committee approach at the position until Alonso returns. Dominic Smith should see the bulk of the starts at first, but hopefully Alonso won't suffer any setbacks and can return when first eligible.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
