X-rays Come Back Negative For Willson Contreras
4 years agoChicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras had X-rays on his wrist on Tuesday and they came back negative, but he has been diagnosed with a left wrist contusion. Contreras was hit hard on the wrist when him and closer Craig Kimbrel mixed up their pitch selection on Sunday. Contreras toughed it out and remained in the game, but will not be in Tuesday's lineup versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. The good news is that Contreras appears to be day-to-day and won't need an injured list stint at the moment. Backup catcher P.J. Higgins will replace Contreras on Tuesday and bat eighth versus Cody Ponce. Higgins was recently called up and is nothing more than a dart throw in DFS.
