Joe Musgrove Fails To Qualify For Victory
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Joe Musgrove was pulled after 4 ⅔ frames Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers despite giving up zero runs. Charged with just one hit and one walk, the end result seems fine but the right-hander battled command issues, locating only 49 of 84 pitches for strikes. After loading the bases in the fifth inning, the Friars opted to play matchups by calling upon lefty reliever Tim Hill to retire Kolten Wong for the final out. Despite the inefficient outing, Musgrove fanned six batters and still holds a crisp 2.26 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 35 percent strikeout rate over 10 starts. He'll look to continue his breakout campaign next Monday at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs and remains a must-start in fantasy.
