ANALYSIS: Since Danny Santana was called up to the majors for the Boston Red Sox, manager Alex Cora has not stopped talking about the new dimension Santana offers the lineup with his speed. When a manager sees that kind of value, the playing time is coming, and that's just what has happened through five games.

In those first four games, Santana batted leadoff, fifth, second, and seventh in the lineup. In a lineup as potent as Boston's a spot in the top half of the lineup practically guarantees plenty of counting stats, and it seems like Santana will find himself in a prime spot a fair amount of the time.
In his first 14 at-bats of the year, Santana is showing the dynamism Cora expected from him, slashing .214/.353/.786 with two home runs and a stolen base. Fantasy managers will recall that Santana is only two seasons removed from a 28-homer, 21-steal year with Texas in 2019. Even though he may not eventually post a very strong batting average or on-base percentage, it's not every day that that type of upside becomes available on the waiver wire, especially with the dearth of steals out there. He also is easy to deploy in fantasy lineups, as his incredible versatility gives him eligibility at every position except pitcher and catcher, though he's expected to receive most of his playing time at first base, second base, and outfield.
