Chris Bassitt Tosses Shutout Against Angels
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Chris Bassitt went the distance on Thursday night against the Angels to record a complete-game shutout. Bassitt was dominant all night as he allowed just three baserunners - two hits and a walk - while picking up nine strikeouts to put together the finest start of his career. The 32-year-old righty has been phenomenal this season as he's got a 5-2 record with a 3.21 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 74 strikeouts across 70 innings. His underlying metrics back up his success as he's got a 2.92 FIP and a 2.52 xERA while posting a career-high 11.2 percent swinging-strike rate. Bassitt has entered the conversation of must-start pitchers in fantasy. He's got another juicy matchup next time out against Seattle.
