Vladimir Gutierrez Allows One Run In MLB Debut
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez turned in a solid outing in his MLB debut in a 1-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Gutierrez allowed one run over five innings of work while striking out three and walking two. The rookie allowed just two hits, with his lone mistake a solo homer off of the bat of infielder David Bote in the fifth inning. Gutierrez was called up to take a turn through the rotation with left-hander Wade Miley (foot) on the injured list. Miley is expected back soon but right-hander Jeff Hoffman (shoulder) just landed on the injured list, so Gutierrez could stick with the big league club for a while. Gutierrez is on the radar as a streaming option in deeper leagues if he stays in the majors.
