Luis Castillo Takes Eighth Loss
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Luis Castillo saw his struggles continue in a 10-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. Castillo allowed four runs (two earned) while striking out three and walking four. He was credited with the loss, dropping his record to 1-8 on the year. Castillo now has a 7.22 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings of work. The veteran right-hander's stuff has simply not been very effective this year as his whiff percentage is just 24.6%, good enough for just the 33rd percentile in the league. That is down from an 83rd percentile whiff percentage in 2020 and a career-high 94th percentile two years ago. Dropping Castillo outright in shallow leagues has to be crossing the minds of fantasy gamers who are rostering him.
