3 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber took his fifth loss of the season on Saturday when he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Pirates in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Gomber and Jon Gray, who started Game 1, both struggled with the pesky Pirates on Saturday. Two of the five hits that Gomber allowed left the yard as Adam Frazier and Ka'ai Tom both smacked solo home runs. The third unearned came around via an Elias Diaz throwing error after a walk in the third inning. Saturday's poor outing snaps a two-game quality start streak for Gomber. The 27-year-old southpaw now has a 4.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 60:23 K/BB ratio over 57 1/3 innings (11 starts) on the season. He's slated to face the A's at home in his next start but isn't a recommended fantasy start in that one.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
