Daniel Bard Earns The Win On Sunday
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard earned his third win of the season on Sunday when he worked two scoreless innings while walking one and striking out three in a 4-3 win over the Pirates. Bard entered in the eighth inning with the Rockies trailing 3-2. He did his job in the eighth, walking one and striking out two in the inning. Colorado took the lead in the top of the ninth inning and he came back out in the bottom half of the frame to close it out. He induced a ground out, a pop-out, and a strikeout to end the game. The veteran closer has looked pretty good over his last seven appearances (7 1/3 innings), allowing just one unearned run. He owns a 3-3 record, 4.50 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and a 27:10 K/BB ratio over 20 innings this year. He's 5-for-8 on save chances as well.
