Matt Chapman Strikes Out Three More Times
4 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in a loss to the Mariners on Monday. Chapman has just three hits in his last 35 at-bats as his batting average has plummeted to .203 on the season. He's striking out way too much as his K-rate is a staggering 32 percent; this is after whiffing over 35 percent of the time last season. Chapman has been a fantasy contributor in the past, but the player we've seen dating back to the 2020 season is a far cry from the one who put up 100-plus RBI in both 2018 and 2019. Perhaps a series in Coors Field will wake Chapman's bat up? The A's start a series in Colorado this weekend so hold onto Chapman for those matchups. In the meantime, Oakland will play two more with Seattle where Chapman can be benched for fantasy.
