3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) has resumed sprinting on the bases, per Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Buxton attempted to open things up on the bases last week, though he had trouble decelerating, and the Twins opted to hold him back from a rehab assignment. The team wants to see how his body responds to the more intense activity level, but it sounds like the 27-year-old is trending in the right direction. If things go well, Buxton could be playing in rehab games by the end of the week. He was in the midst of a breakout season before his injury, as he had posted a 1.180 OPS with nine homers and five stolen bases in 98 plate appearances while recording career-highs nearly across the board in Statcast metrics.--Tim Capurso
