Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Has Three-Hit Day
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. stayed hot at the dish on Tuesday, going 3-for-4 in the team's 5-1 win over the Marlins. He slugged his fifth homer of the season with a pair of singles to up his average to .260 on the campaign after an extremely sluggish start to the season. Gurriel is now hitting .397 over his last 15 games with eight extra-base hits and eight RBI, but he's unlikely to slide up from the bottom half of the order where his counting stats would flourish. The 27-year-old is still providing value to managers who held on to him, and it looks like that will continue now that he's found his stroke.
