3 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Mike Ford was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Tuesday night's win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Ford posted just a .561 OPS with three homers, though he recorded seven barrels in 37 batted ball events alongside a 15.3 percent walk rate. The Yankees are expected to announce a corresponding move Wednesday, likely the call-up of hot-hitting first baseman Chris Gittens, who has slashed .256/.475/.605 in 15 minor league games this season.--Tim Capurso
