3 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons (ankle) is not in Thursday's lineup for the opening game of the series against the Kansas City Royals. Simmons is dealing with a sore ankle, with manager Rocco Baldelli noting that the veteran shortstop told him it was bothering him following Tuesday's game. This is Simmons' second straight absence, though he'll have three more chances to return to the lineup against the Royals. Jorge Polanco will get the start at shortstop and bat third against Royals' lefty Kris Bubic.--Tim Capurso
