Vladimir Gutierrez Picks Up First Career Win
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez allowed two runs over five innings in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Gutierrez struck out three and walked three on the way to picking up the first win of his MLB career. The rookie hurler has been solid over his first two MLB starts, allowing three earned runs over 10 innings of work. Gutierrez forced seven swings and misses in the start on Thursday and finished with a solid 31% CSW (called strikes+whiffs) rate. He is worth a look as a possible waiver add in deeper leagues and NL-only formats. Gutierrez will face the Milwaukee Brewers next.
