Blake Snell Turns Up On Friday Night
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Blake Snell recorded his finest start of 2021 Friday against the New York Mets, striking out 10 across seven frames of shutout baseball. Snell carried a no-hitter into the seventh before Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor made things interesting with a leadoff single, ending up at third on a two-base error. The left-hander rebounded to retire the next three batters to cap the masterful evening. Over 101 pitches (67 strikes), Snell permitted just one free pass to go with the lone knock. The 28-year-old has struggled immensely this season, but tonight's gem is certain to rope fantasy managers back in. After 52 ⅓ innings, Snell holds a 4.83 ERA and 1.43 WHIP to supplement a stellar 32 percent strikeout rate. Depending how the Friars manage the rotation, Snell will face either the Chicago Cubs or rematch the Mets next week.
