3 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Griffin Jax has been called up from Triple-A St. Paul Saturday ahead of the contest against the Kansas City Royals. The Twins designated pitcher Juan Minaya for assignment in a corresponding move. Jax has made five starts for the St. Paul Saints, going 3-1 with a 3.33 ERA in 27 innings pitched along with a 29:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The 26-year-old could appear as a long reliever out of the bullpen Saturday, or he could make a spot start for the Twins on Sunday with the news that Michael Pineda (forearm) was scratched from his scheduled outing.--Tim Capurso
