BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 30% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Cody Poteet has been largely unheralded since being drafted from UCLA, and while he's had his ups and downs throughout the Miami minors system, he looks mighty comfortable five starts into his rookie MLB campaign at the age of 26. Over the course of five starts and 24.0 IP Poteet has netted a 3.75 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, two wins, and a 4.02 FIP.
He is striking the opposition out at the slightly below-average rate of 22.1%, while he is allowing home runs and walks at clips near the league average. His .206 BABIP might give you pause, but it appears to have a chance at sustainability. Poteet allows 65.2% combined grounders and fly balls, but the 18.2% line drives that he allows is 5.3% below the MLB norm, and at a 36.4% hard hit rate and 88.2 MPH average exit velocity, he maximizes his chances of neutralizing damage coming off of the bat. With that level of star-by-start reliability, Cody Poteet is a worthwhile addition in moderately-sized leagues.
