Brendan Rodgers Swats First Home Run Of The Year
3 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Brendan Rodgers went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI in a 6-3 loss to the A's on Saturday. Rodgers didn't start this game and came in as a pinch-hitter in the top of the seventh inning with the Rockies trailing 5-1. He took Jesus Luzardo deep for a two-run shot, his first of the season, to pull Colorado within two runs. He also picked up a single later in the contest. This was an encouraging game from the former top-prospect but likely a frustrating one for any fantasy managers that happen to roster him and benched him due to his being scratched. He's still struggled since his activation from the IL, slashing .244/.311/.341 with the one home run and seven RBI over 41 at-bats, but maybe this performance will get him going.
