3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis (hand) will be wearing a splint on his left hand for at least a week resulting in his being, essentially, shut down from swinging a bat. Davis was expected to play in rehab games last week, but his rehab assignment was pushed back indefinitely after he experienced discomfort while swinging. Davis hasn't played for the Mets since May 1 due to the significant left-hand sprain. Considering the fact that Davis is not yet even swinging a bat, it will be some time before he nears his return. At this point, he may not be back with the Mets until early-to-mid July. Over 41 at-bats in 2021, Davis has posted a .390/.479/.610 slash line with two home runs and seven RBI. Once he returns from this extended stay on the injured list, Davis should provide solid counting stats. Fantasy managers with IL space should continue to exercise patience and wait for Davis to return.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
