Daniel Bard Works A Six Out Save
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard picked up the save on Sunday when he worked two scoreless innings while giving up two hits and striking out two in a 3-1 win over the Oakland A's. Bard came entered in the eighth inning with the Rockies clinging to a one-run lead. He allowed a leadoff single to Matt Olson but was able to induce two groundouts, one of which resulted in a double play, to end the inning. The Rockies tacked on an insurance run in the bottom half of the frame and Bard came back out to shut the door in the ninth inning. He again allowed a leadoff single but then retired the next three batters in order to lock up his seventh save of the year. Bard hasn't allowed an earned run in the last nine appearances and owns a 3.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 34:10 K/BB ratio over 24 innings this season. He's worth a look in fantasy leagues if you're in need of some saves.
