3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson lasted just 2 2/3 innings pitched against the Orioles on Tuesday, allowing four earned runs, eight hits, and one walk in the Mets 10-3 loss. Peterson's record dropped to 1-5 on the season, while his ERA and WHIP rose to 6.32 and 1.51, respectively, over 47 IP on the season. After a decent, albeit, inconsistent start to the 2021 campaign, the wheels have totally fallen off for Peterson since he turned in a quality start against the Rays back on May 14. Over his last four starts, Peterson has allowed 15 ER, 21 hits, and eight walks in 13 2/3 IP. At this point, it remains to be seen whether the Mets will assign Peterson to the bullpen or the minors to iron out his issues. Conversely, the Mets may be forced, due to the injuries to Noah Syndergaard (elbow) and Carlos Carrasco (hamstring), to keep Peterson in the rotation. Notwithstanding, and despite the potential Peterson has previously shown as a MLB starter in 2020, fantasy managers in redraft leagues and all but the deepest of dynasty formats should move on from Peterson and leave him on the waiver wire.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
