Daniel Bard Earns Eighth Save Of The Year
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard picked up this eighth save of the year on Wednesday when he surrendered one hit, issued one walk, hit a batter, and struck out one over one inning in a 4-3 win over the Marlins. Bard did not make this one easy but he was able to get the job done and secure his eighth save of the season. He entered in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Rockies holding a one-run lead. He recorded the first out before hitting Jorge Alfaro with a pitch. He then struck out Jazz Chisholm before allowing a single to Starling Marte and walking Jesus Aguilar. He finally got Corey Dickerson to ground out with the bases loaded to end the game. The veteran right-hander now owns a 3.60 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 35:11 K/BB ratio over 25 innings on the season. He last blew a save on May 12 and has converted the last five overall.
