Byron Buxton Homers Twice In Rehab Game
3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) had a strong day at the plate in his second rehab game for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints. Buxton had said he wasn't entirely comfortable at the plate following his first game, though he sure looked the part on Thursday night, clubbing a pair of two-run homers and a sacrifice fly for a five-RBI night. It was his first game playing in the field since May 6- he made a couple of nice plays, throwing out a runner who was trying to advance to third. Manager Rocco Baldelli said he wants to see Buxton play at least two games in the field before he returns to the Twins, so expect another rehab contest for the slugger on Friday. Buxton seems likely to rejoin the team at some point this weekend during their series in Minnesota against the Houston Astros.
