3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker won't start Friday's game against the Houston Astros but will be available out of the bullpen. Shoemaker, who owns a career-worst 7.28 ERA and 1.58 WHIP, will cede the pitching duties to prospect Bailey Ober. The veteran righty was supposed to be a solid back-end starter for Minnesota, though he regressed in multiple metrics and has struggled with pitch location. It remains to be seen whether he'll return to the rotation, though it makes sense for the Twins to give their young arms a chance in the big leagues should the team fall further in the standings.--Tim Capurso
