3 years agoColorado Rockies' second baseman Brendan Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in an 11-5 lopsided loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. After not starting on Thursday vs. the Marlins, Rodgers got the start at second base and hit second on Friday. He was hitless unit the top of the eighth inning when he took Ryan Hendrix deep for his second home run in as many games. The 24-year-old has been on fire over his last seven contests, slashing .500/.545/1.000 with three home runs and six RBI across 18 at-bats. The hot streak has upped his season averages to a solid .278/.355/.463 with the three home runs and 11 RBI (54 at-bats). The sample size is small but the former top prospect deserves to play every day but whether manager Bud Black decides to allow that or not is to be determined.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
