Chris Bassitt Collects Seventh Win
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Chris Bassitt allowed two runs across 5 2/3 innings to earn his seventh win of the season Sunday against the Royals. Bassitt wasn't at his best as he allowed three walks and five hits, but he picked up five strikeouts and got enough offensive support to pick up the victory. The right-hander is now 7-2 this season with a 3.43 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. His 3.29 FIP and 3.13 xERA suggest he can keep up this pace. Bassitt is also striking batters out at the highest rate of his career as he's got 91 punchouts in 86 2/3 innings, good for a 9.5 K/9 which is the first time in his career he's averaged more than a strikeout per inning. Bassitt has a tough matchup at Yankee Stadium next time out, but he's earned the trust from fantasy managers to be started in that matchup.
