3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson went six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, in the Mets 5-2 win over the Cubs on Monday. Peterson also struck out three batters and improved his record to 2-5 on the season. It was a huge rebound game for the struggling 25-year-old who had allowed 15 earned runs, 21 hits, and eight walks in 13 2/3 innings over four starts heading into Monday's contest. Peterson saw his ERA drop from 6.32 to 5.60 with this performance, which was the first time in his career he threw six scoreless innings. Notwithstanding Monday's impressive start against a tough opponent, Peterson has been extremely inconsistent in 2021, pitching to mediocre results. He is best left on the waiver wire in all but the deepest of fantasy formats until such time that he can string a few quality starts together and regain the trust of fantasy managers.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
