Spencer Howard Allows Three Runs In Loss At Dodgers
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Spencer Howard allowed three runs in four-plus innings while taking the loss Monday at Dodger Stadium. Howard looked great through three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth when Will Smith took him deep for a two-run shot. The Phillies' top pitching prospect was allowed to start the fifth inning, but he promptly allowed another homer to Chris Taylor and was removed from the game. Still, there were encouraging signs from the right-hander in this one as he induced six swinging strikes on just 67 pitches against a tough Dodger lineup. Howard remains a must-roster option in dynasty formats, but he doesn't have much value in redraft leagues until he proves he can get through the five innings as he is yet record an out in the fifth through four starts.
