Luis Castillo Throws Seven Shutout Innings
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Luis Castillo turned in an excellent outing in a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. Castillo tossed seven shutout innings while striking out seven, walking three, and allowing just three hits. The veteran right-hander did an excellent job keeping the Milwaukee hitters off balance, posting an excellent 35% CSW (called strikes+whiffs) rate in the start. While he had to settle for a no-decision in the 10-inning game, it goes down as one of Castillo's best outings in what has been a tough year for him. Overall, Castillo has a 2-9 record, 5.83 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts in 71 innings of work. Castillo is trending up, having allowed just four total earned runs over his past three starts, spanning 18 2/3 innings of work. He is slated to face off against the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
