3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Darren O'Day (shoulder) could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, per manager Aaron Boone. O'Day has been sidelined since April with a right rotator cuff strain- though he has recently increased his throwing distance while long tossing and was able to get some mound work in. The veteran reliever would likely require several rehab outings before he's deemed ready to return, though he is certainly close to being back with the big club. O'Day has played in 10 games for the Yankees this year, pitching to a 3.00 ERA in nine innings with a 9:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio and three holds.--Tim Capurso
