3 years agoNew York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and four combined runs and RBI in Thursday's win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Stanton had a busy day at the plate, walking in the first inning, singling and scoring in the third, then capping off his night with a key, two-run home run in the seventh frame. The homer traveled 352 feet at an exit velocity of 104 MPH, which was a modest speed compared to his other batted balls. He also registered a 111 MPH speed on his single and his hardest-hit ball of the season, a 120.2 MPH groundout. Stanton is up to four long balls and 11 RBI with a .995 OPS in June. He'll get a good matchup on Friday against Oakland Atheltic's righty James Kaprielian, who has pitched to a 2.50 ERA but ranks in the 25th percentile or lower in average exit velocity, max exit velocity, and hard-hit rate.--Tim Capurso
