Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Provides Only Offense For Jays Friday
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. provided the only run for his club on Friday, clubbing a solo homer as his team fell 7-1 to the Orioles. His 409' shot to left field in the fifth was his seventh long ball of the season as he finished the night going 1-for-3. Gurriel has spent most of his time batting in the sixth or seventh spot in the Jays lineup this season, so his counting stats have been a small disappointment with 23 runs and 23 RBI on the year. The 27-year-old is also slashing a mere .250/.270/.388 through 62 games, but there's a glimmer of hope that he stays fantasy relevant the rest of the way since he's hit .312 since May 14.
