3 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz picked up his second loss of the season on Friday in the Mets 1-0 loss to the Nationals. Diaz failed to record an out in the ninth inning. Called on to preserve a 0-0 tie, Diaz (1-2) allowed a walk, two singles, and one earned run giving the Nationals a walk-off victory. Notably, the inning fell apart for Diaz after a bad call on a 3-2 pitch to Juan Soto which resulted in a leadoff walk. Notwithstanding, Diaz remains a top-tier relief option in all fantasy formats. In save opportunities, he has allowed just one run across 15 1/3 innings pitched and has converted 14 of 15 save opportunities. Conversely, in non-save situations, Diaz has given up eight earned runs in 11 2/3 IP, including the earned run given up on Friday. It should be noted, though, that Friday was the first time Díaz allowed an earned run in a tie game this season. As one of the elite relievers in baseball, Diaz should remain active in all fantasy formats, despite Friday's hiccup.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
