Hyun-Jin Ryu Goes Seven Strong In Win
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu was superb in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Orioles, firing seven innings of one-run ball. His only blemish was a home run in the first inning off the bat of Trey Mancini as he struck out four and walked one in the 100-pitch effort. It was a welcomed bounce-back game for the left-hander who struggled in his previous three starts entering this one, but he still owns a sharp 3.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the year. Ryu relies on his ratios to keep his fantasy value afloat since doesn't have the high-strikeout arm like a typical ace (69 K/83 IP). Thankfully, he's living up to it so far as he looks ahead to a rematch with the Orioles next weekend at their home field in Buffalo.
