3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Cole Irvin earned his fifth win of the season on Tuesday despite allowing seven hits and three runs in five innings pitched. Irvin was spotted a nine-run lead in the first inning and was able to do just enough to make it through five innings and qualify for the victory. The left-hander has a solid 3.98 ERA supported by a 3.79 FIP, but he's not much of a fantasy option thanks to a dearth of strikeouts. Irvin's 16.4 percent strikeout rate is among the lowest in baseball and he's never had a strikeout rate above 20 percent in any of his three Big League seasons.
