3 years agoNew York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu collected two hits, including a two-run homer, in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Kansas City Royals. LeMahieu brought the Yankees within one run with a two-run blast to the opposite field in the eighth inning. Per Yankees' beat reporter Sweeny Murti, 14 of LeMahieu's 19 last 19 balls in play have been hit to the opposite field- and his numbers are benefitting from the approach. He has rattled off four and five-game hitting streaks in June while hitting three homers and driving in 11 runs in the month. His BABIP is still extremely low compared to his career averages, suggesting that his overall numbers would look better with a bit more luck.--Tim Capurso
