3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez was dominant on Wednesday, allowing just one run on two hits with seven strikeouts over eight innings in a 5-2 win over the Seattle Mariners. This was the 26-year-old's best start of the season as he had a perfect game heading into the sixth inning before Taylor Trammell took him deep for a solo home run with two outs. J.P. Crawford then singled off him in the following at-bat but he was able to get out of the inning without any further damage. This was the deepest Marquez has gone into a game this season and the first start all year in which he did not allow a free pass. The stellar effort gives him a 6-6 record, 3.99 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 89:39 K/BB ratio across 90 1/3 innings (16 starts). He gets another favorable matchup against the Pirates at home in his next turn.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
