Garrett Mitchell Has Two Hits, Homers At High-A
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers prospect Garrett Mitchell went 2-for-4 with a home run on Wednesday. The 22-year-old outfielder has a least one hit in each of his last three games. Mitchell, who missed most of May with an injury, has shown an improved approach at the plate while posting a 181 wRC+ in 18 games at the High-A level. Selected 20th overall in the 2020 amateur draft, he had a reputation for a loud set of tools but a less-refined approach than your typical top college pick. Mitchell has quieted some of those doubters with a 25% walk rate, .321 average, and seven steals in eight tries but he's also relied on a BABIP of .471 and has a 27% strikeout rate. As well, he has a massive 67% ground-ball rate, which will prevent him from tapping into much of his raw power.
