3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt (elbow) could face hitters soon. Schmidt will throw the equivalent of two innings off the mound Saturday, and if all goes well, will face hitters the next time he's slated to pitch. The 25-year-old suffered a flexor tendon strain in his elbow, but seems to be inching ever closer to a return. Schmidt flashed some strikeout potential in the minors in 2019 and could factor into the Yankees' rotation plans this year if he continues to progress without setback.--Tim Capurso
