3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German took his fifth loss of the season in Friday's defeat to the Boston Red Sox. German pitched four innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits while walking one. He struck out a trio of batters. German was in trouble from the beginning of the game, surrendering two straight base hits and then a pair of doubles to plate three runs for Boston. He utilized a fair amount of pitches in the beginning of the game and couldn't quite recover. German has now allowed a combined 14 earned runs in his last three starts, two of them losses, though he did face tough matchups against the Oakland Athletics and the Red Sox Friday. Fantasy managers can be forgiven for benching German ahead of his next outing against the Los Angeles Angels, who rank sixth in OPS this season.--Tim Capurso
