Amir Garrett Picks Up Fifth Save
3 years agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Amir Garrett turned in a scoreless ninth inning to save a 4-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Garrett struck out one and worked around one hit to earn his fifth save in seven chances. The veteran lefty lost the closer's role early in the season due to ineffectiveness but he has been better of late, posting a 4.15 ERA and three saves over his past seven outings. Overall, Garrett has a 0-2 record, 7.71 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings of work. With right-handers Tejay Antone and Lucas Sims both on the injured list, Garrett appears primed to claim most of the save opportunities moving forward with right-hander Brad Brach possibly mixing in. It's worth checking to see if Garrett is still out there on waivers in any leagues.
